SHOGO KARIYAZAKI

        Shogo Kariyazaki, born 1958 and graduated from Waseda University, is called the “Japanese Flower Arrangement Maestro,” with reputation of his delicate and bold style of work and the unique sense of color and materials used.  He presently presides over the Kariyazaki Flower Professional Education School.

        Shogo Kariyazaki entered Sogetsu Ikebana Main School at the age of 24.  From the beginning, he revealed his talent and received the top title qualification in Sogetsu with the shortest record in March 1999.  After that, his brilliant talent was acknowledged by Master Hiroshi Teshigahara, the head of Sogetsu Ikebana School, and was given the opportunity to start freelance activities and became Japan’s first “Flower Maestro.”  A few of his achievements are as follows.

● A comprehensive producer of ceremonial flowers at the 10th anniversary of the
   present Emperor of Japan and the retirement of the former emperor and the
   throne of the current emperor of Japan on NHK.
● Directed all flower arrangements when former President Bill Clinton visited
   Japan
● A solo exhibition celebrating the 86th birthday of the former Thai Majesty King
   Rama IX
● Collaboration with various famous musicians

● Collaboration with Japanese performing arts of “Noh / Kyogen”
● Director of International Flower EXPO all over the world
● Served as Tulip ambassador in Netherlands
● Received the International Brand Personality Award from Malaysia
   (APBF Foundation) in 2015
● Designed the crystal flower vases “Four Seasons~The beauty of nature~”
   for Daum, a long-established French Crystal Company in Nancy France, which
   were worldwide limited edition created in four color variations with 99 pieces in
   each color.

        He not only works in the field of flower arrangement (IKEBANA), but also designs and produces Japanese traditional costume of Kimono and glassware, and does flower collaborations with important cultural properties holding series of exhibitions to show “flower challenging in historical buildings,” which has earned high acclaim from domestic and international VIPs.

        He has also performed impressive activities in countries such as France, the UK, the Netherlands, Italy, Turkey, Bulgaria, Romania, Hong Kong, China, Thailand, Singapore, Malaysia, Vietnam etc. for flower decoration at ceremonies, solo exhibitions and demonstrations.

        Furthermore, in domestic area, he actively participates in community service activities that encourage regional revitalization in Japan by means of “Flower Education,” helping with “Declining Birthrate Problem,” and “Promoting the Restoration of Traditional Crafts,” etc.

        Currently, he often appears regularly on TV shows, magazines, newspapers in Japan, keeping active in a wide range of fields.


華道家。1958年生まれ。早稲田大学文学部卒業。Kariyazaki Flower Professional Education School主宰。繊細かつ大胆な作風と独特の色彩感覚には定評がある。

24歳の時にいけばなの草月流に入門。入門当初よりその頭角を現し、1999年3月に理事の資格を最短記録で取得。その後、その才能を草月流家元 故勅使河原宏氏に認められ、日本初の「華道家」としてフリーランスでの活動を始動し、日本ディスプレイ大賞などの賞を毎年受賞するなど、花を使った空間装飾の第一人者として世界的に活躍している。

クリントン元米大統領来日時や、今生天皇陛下御在位10年記念式典の花の総合プロデュース、タイ王室・故プミポン国王陛下86歳の誕生日を祝う個展、有名ミュージシャンと花のコラボレーションや、「能・狂言」の舞台美術、花博のプロデュースなどを手掛ける。

また、日仏交流150周年フランス広報大使、オランダチューリップ大使などを務め、2015年にはマレーシア(APBF財団)より、国際ブランドパーソナリティー賞を受賞する。

フランス クリスタルの老舗であるDaum社から、世界限定1色99点のクリスタル花器「四季~花鳥風月~」をデザインし、4色展開での世界デビューも果たすなど、いけばなだけにとどまらず、着物やガラス器のデザインおよびプロデュースをはじめ、花と建物のコラボレートとなる個展”歴史的建築物に挑む”シリーズも開催し、国内外のVIPからも高い評価を得ている。

海外ではフランス、イギリス、オランダ、イタリア、トルコ、ブルガリア、ルーマニア、中国、タイ、シンガポール、マレーシア、ベトナムなど、各国の式典における花装飾の展示や個展、デモンストレーションを開催し、国内はもとより海外でも目覚ましい活動を展開。日本国内では「花育」や「少子化問題」、「伝統工芸品の復古促進」など、地域活性を促す社会活動等にも積極的に取り組んでいる。

現在、TBS「中居正広の金曜日のスマイルたちへ」にレギュラー出演、MBS「プレバト!!」での大人気企画、いけばなの才能査定ランキングの専門家ゲストとして出演するなど、テレビ・雑誌・新聞など幅広い分野で活躍中。
